Not that many years ago, dear friends of ours in Michigan, told me that you make a choice every day to be happy. No one is responsible for your happiness but yourself. Some days are easier than others to be happy, yet we persevere and life begins to change for the better, one day at a time.
Some folks believe they will be happy when they graduate from elementary school and go to junior high. They'll be happy then. Senior high brings the same sentiment; I'll be happy when I get to college..they have fun there. Once out of college, they think they'll be happy when they finally get a job and have some money to spend. Still, life goes on and before long, they've raised their families and will be happy when the kids leave the house. They ultimately live their lives looking forward to the time when they will be happy. Sad.
Spend time with anyone who's received cancer treatments or battled any serious illness. They will teach you how to live. Every day...to the fullest...period. The little things are now the big things. An ounce of joy is worth everything.
A life well lived has no time for negativity and whining. So I challenge you today. Make that decision. Watch the sun shine a little brighter tomorrow and in all the days to come.
