Fort Stanton Ride Camp

In addition to being a great site to host an endurance ride, Fort Stanton is a year round location for camping, riding, and hiking in some of the prettiest country you've ever seen (see last post with rainbow photo.)

Located on Hwy 220 near Capitan, NM (the home of Smokey the Bear).  The camping area itself has electrical hookups in some spots, water for horses (with hoses to get it to your camp area), permanent bathrooms and even an RV dump station!

The hosts, Jerry and Sharon, are terrific people who know the area and most of the trails.  You can literally ride or hike different trails every day you're there while keeping the same campsite.   The photos above are of two of their dogs...they were just so cute, I couldn't resist shooting a few photos...

So next time you're looking for a place to hang out and camp with your horses, take a drive to the Fort Stanton Campsite.  Located on Hwy 220 between Fort Stanton and Capitan, you won't find a nicer spot or nicer camp hosts!

Blessings,  Linda
