Graduation...

It was a privilege to have been asked to take photos for Ashly's graduation recently.

Member of National Honor Society, and she graduated with honors.
She is headed to Portales for college and I know she will be an awesome
teacher very soon!

It was obvious she means a lot to a lot of people!

Hats off to the entire graduating class of 2010.

Shock and Awe...

Sometimes the baby photos aren't exactly perfect...

After all, getting your photo taken can be a little unnerving...

Unless Mom's there to help you feel comfortable!

Usually, the unexpected photos are the best of all!

Freedom...

"In Riding a Horse, We Borrow Freedom"...Helen Thompson

It's been a strange year, to be sure.  I have attented at least five or six
endurance rides by now, and so far have made it to ONE.  I was out on a training ride yesterday
and realized that it's not about the competition as much as it is sharing some quality time with
my horses.  You know you're hooked on riding when there is a direct correlation between the hours
you've been able to spend in the saddle vs. your current stress level...

Once I realized that, I added a couple extra miles to my ride.  Works like a charm!

Blessings, Linda

Amigos de Dressage Show ~ 2010

The Paso del Norte Dressage Society held it's annual Amigos de Dressage Show at Sunland
Park, NM this past weekend.  What a joy to see everyone and these magnificent horses!

This is an annual show and one of my favorite to photograph.  The racetrack has a pond in
the infield which always adds such a nice backdrop to the photos.

Always great to see everyone and this year was no exception.  If you'd like more information
on this great group of people, you can contact them here Paso del Norte Dressage Society

Until next time,   Linda

Rump Rugs....

Many of you won't know what rump rugs are, but to endurance riders, we couldn't live without them.
They keep the muscles warm on your horse during a cold day of trail riding...having said that, there are plenty of good rump rugs out there, but Jeanie Miller sure puts out some FUN ones!  My mare Scooter
is modeling her new Eeyore rump rug, a la Winnie the Pooh collection!  These are so much fun!

If you'd like a custom rump rug of your own, let Jeanie know.  She can be contacted by clicking here:

The way I see it, if you're going to ride 50 miles, you might as well look great doing it!

Blooms are Busting Out All Over!... Part II

My last post on desert blooms were yellow.  Yesterday morning
they turned to orange and fuschia!  The desert is alive with flowers
of all kinds and colors!

Even the creosote bushes are bright yellow, and such a beautiful contrast to the mountains.

Ocotillo cactus are spectacular right now.  The ends look like they're on fire!

I don't know how most of the plant inhabitants survive the heat and arid weather.  I do know
they still glow in their colors, all the same.  It's absolutely breathtaking!

Even Benson posed with the colors!

Blessings, Linda

Wild Horse Workshops...

I cannot believe it's been a year this month since I joined Lynne Pomeranz on one of her
Wild Horse Workshops.  Lynne loves finding and photographing these magnificent horses and
literally spots them miles away!  We toured the Jicarilla Wild Horse Preserve and the Monero
Mustang Sanctuary over three wonderful days of being in the midst of these treasures of the
   Southwest...

You need not have a camera to attend one of her Wild Horse Photo workshops.  Just being in
the same area is exhilarating.  I almost forgot who I was and where I lived by the third day.
I came home more relaxed and refreshed than any other getaway I've ever been on.

This little guy was the only foal at Monero when we were there.  Now there are quite
a few!  Sandi Claypool would love to show you around.  Here's her info
